Google Uploads the World (New Google Docs Feature)

Hello folks,

Google docs (not to mention Google Wave) now allows for ordinary documents to be uploaded without transforming them into Google-type documents. The implications for this are staggering as far as using Google for a project management system.

Many people will be very concerned about privacy.

You should be.

Do not upload anything confidential such as Social Security Numbers, bank account numbers and of course- don’t upload passwords or anything that will compromise your identity.

I personally do believe that anything that is online or contained within Google’s architecture is made available to the CIA, NSA and any other Homeland Security organization that needs to access the data.

Is this a bad thing for privacy?

I will let you answer this on your own.

Just don’t be foolish enough to operate any illegal activities using Google’s system in any way. Remain above board and transparent. This will allow you to utilize the new “upload anything” feature of Google’s system without any concern. Keep personal data on your desktop behind a secure firewall.
