The Last Keyword Tool versus Free Keyword Research Tools

Hi guys,

I got an amusing and honest question from John in Australia via Skype Chat. Here it is:

John: Hey Russell, Can you tell me what advantage there is with your keyword tool over the free Google one? I am evaluating whether to recommend my crew to do deep keyword research or not.

Now I have to admit that I was shocked to get such a question. The difference is so huge that I was thrown backwards. But then again, I realized that it is no fault of John’s that he does not know the difference. So I tried to answer him.

Russell: In my opinion the advantage is that the filters and columns allow you to choose keywords that are most profitable and most related to your specific conversation. Also there is more flexibility and more information that Google free does not provide in a single data line. It does all this using natural language processing based on a competitive perspective that Google is really not in business to provide.

John: Ok, thanks.

Russell: There is also a competitive analysis tool that allows you to view the SEO details of any specific keyword. We will let you know if the top ten ranked sites associated with your theme have included the keyword in the:

  1. Domain
  2. URL
  3. Title
  4. Meta-tag

TLKT will also let you know how many pages indexed for the word as well as how many inbound links are pointed to the associated page.  Oh yeah, we show you the page rank of the domain as well.

Here is an image of the Deep Inspection Screen

But this is not the most useful part of the “Deep Inspection” function.

The deep inspection screen has a graph allow you to know how high the bar is raised for your keyword in question:

The “Off-page Competitive Analysis Visualization” screen above tells you the average ranking factors for the top ten domains in question. At a quick-glance, you will see if the ranked terms is difficult or easy to rank for.

Video: Using Krakken and TLKT Together Part 1

Hello, Here is a quick overview of how to use Krakken and TLKT (the last keyword tool) together.

Please go here if you prefer to to see the high resolution keyword research video.

In this video I reveal a sneak peek about how I use both Krakken and TLKT with a real live client. In this video the following points can be gleaned:

  1. Krakken is a top-down vertical market segmentation tool designed more for Market Research rather than only keyword research.
  2. TLKT or “The Last Keyword Tool” is good for bottom-up keyword research or quick “affiliate marketing” assessment of niches and micro niches.
  3. Both of these tools are part of the monthly Krakken membership plan.
  4. The Last Keyword Tool can be purchased independently.
  5. There is a free seven day trial for TLKT that does require a credit card.
  6. Both of these applications use natural language processing and semantic analysis as a technological base.

4 Million Dollar Market Research Questions

Hello,

There are four questions that you must ask when searching for a niche. Keyword research is only one of these four questions. Even as a developer of a keyword research and market research software application, I still ask the “other three” questions before I use my own software.  I teach my students to consider these four questions regardless of their project size and demand.

These questions are extremely valuable when preparing your launch strategy and I have laid them out in the following free ebook:

pdf-icon1

The 4 Millions Dollar Questions: How To Avoid Guaranteed Start-Up Failure on the Internet

For those of you short on time, below is a 3 minute video that essentially covers the entire concept. Amazingly, these “4 Research Questions” have helped more of my students than any other market research document I have made. These questions are very important when building a site for an affiliate program. Do not take them for granted. Few people sincerely review the questions.

When I asked my students why they do not review the “4 questions” with their own products, it is because they do not see the point since they are already in business and have a product. If they already sell a “vitamin” instead of a “painkiller” what point is there in reviewing my niche mining questions?

The 4 questions are more than just niche mining questions. They are designed to help you change or even slighly modify your position in the marketplace if your “vitamin.” Approach is not working.

It is much easier to sell “pain killers” than it is to sell “vitamins.” This is why painkillers are far more regulated than vitamins. Vitamins are “nice to have.” Painkillers are “gotta have it.”

So even if you have already chosen a product and have been in the vitamin business for 20 years, there is always a way to “reposition” your product in order to lean more towards the “painkiller” side. This is almost always done through marketing copy writing.

For example, if you are selling a calcium vitamin, you can reposition it as more of a painkiller using your copy writing by providing examples of “prevention.” Unfortunately this requires that you provide the negative facts about what may happen to someones health if they are calcium deficient. Some people view this as fear mongering. Copy writers view this as “paycheck.”

Human beings are pretty simple. We move towards pleasure and avoid pain, but we tend to respond to pain more quickly.

When you get to question number three you are going to need to use one of the Theme Zoom market research/keyword research applications. The Last Keyword Tool will help you discover the answer to question three: “Are People Searching for this Niche?”

When you use the Theme Zoom Suite of Products with an understanding of the 4 Million Dollar Market Research Questions, you will bring back amazing results, even when you are segmenting large markets.

Ranking for Profitable Niches with TLKT (The Last Keyword Tool)

Hi folks,

Today we are talking about ranking for profitable niches. Sue takes a
closer look at the "golden niches" she found a couple of days ago to see if
a deeper inspection will allow them to maintain their golden hue.

She shows you how to interpret the results from the deep inspection so you
can understand what it will take to rank for these niches.

This highlights the Last Keyword Tool's new competitive analysis feature
that pulls together both on page and off page factors to give you a clear
picture.

This is a more advanced method than KEI concepts and others that take into
account only a couple of pieces of information. When combined with The Last
Keyword Tools "Deep Inspection" function, you can be an unstoppable force.

Google Local Offers Free Adwords Advertising Credits

Hi folks,

Google Local Business Center is offering a plan for 100 dollars worth of free adwords credit.

I was amused to see that they actually used (first time ever) time-sensitive marketing pressure to get signed up. I guess local business owners drag their heels.

We recently sent you an offer for $100 in free Google AdWords™ advertising that just expired.  However, in order to give you an added opportunity to try reaching your customers through online advertising, we have extended the expiration date of the offer until Friday, October 16, 2009.

Perhaps things are getting a little thin over there at the Googleplex?

At any rate, if you are using PPC it is a good idea to login to your Google local account and see if you can get your code for the free clicks. Why not?

A really good way to research local business keywords is through the use of our keyword research tool called “The Last Keyword Tool.”

You can sign up for a free trial that will last you seven days. TLKT allows you to type in any local keyword and discover the most important related long tails using Natural Language Processing. Regardless of what  they say, no other keyword tools on the market give you this ability. You want the most important and profitable keywords, not a gigantic pile of useless keywords.

High Resolution Local Keyword Research Video

Here is a very short video on how to use TLKT (and a little about Krakken because it is my personal favorite) in order to check out local search terms.

You may also remove the location stem of the keyword in order to drill into it. I use Krakken for this. For example if your client is looking for “window washing Chicago” as a ranking term, you may first drill into the vertical of “window washing” in order to get an idea of the TSMV (total search market value) for the vertical market.

I will also drill into a local long tail using TLKT (The Last Keyword Tool) because it provides me with a unique conversation using Natural Language Processing based on that local area.

Search Engine Proven Synonyms

Search Engine Proven Synonyms:

(SEPS) are keywords that Google recognizes as synonyms based on link citations. Generally they have nothing to do with thesaurus synonyms, but rather are synonymic based on how people are currently referencing ideas on the internet. Because of this, SEPS are volatile and change frequently and without warning.

The Last Keyword Tool: Vertical Market Algorithm Filter

Hello folks,

Today we are going to cover a default filter included in your subscription of The Last Keyword Tool. It is called the Vertical Markets filter.

Knowing the vertical markets of your seed term is important. Drilling into the vertical market will allow you to see your seed term from a higher perspective. You are able to analyze where the money is moving in that market, and how much of the market is represented by your seed term. Additionally you can find related markets that can allow you to cast a wider keyword net, bringing you additional converting traffic.

I have been given permission from Theme Zoom secret labs to reveal the code to this filter. This means it is now open source and you can tweak it up or down any way you see fit:

(((((keyword_bayes_score - min_bayes_score) / (max_bayes_score - min_bayes_score)) + ((keyword_lsi_score - min_lsi_score)/ (max_lsi_score - min_lsi_score) * 1.3))/2.3) * 100) > 60 and keyword_upper_google_cost_per_click > 1 and keyword_upper_google_clicks_per_day > 100 and keyword_google_competing_pages > (seed_google_competing_pages * 1.1)

This particular filter was written by Sue Bell to include Theme Zoom’s proprietary natural language processing components. These two components are seen above in the code as “bayes score’ and “LSI” score. Keep in mind that you have full flexibility and control over the numbers in this equation if choose to change them by cutting and pasting the code into a new filter. You may change the volume or alter the algorithm itself using the Edit Filter function, but you must copy the code into the “create new filter” function:

Will Second Life Survive? Consuming Information as a Shared Experience

Second Life
Image via Wikipedia

Philip Rosedale
speaks about second life and some of the escapist human traits, as well as the falsity of a utopian view of virtual worlds. Utopia does not scale, an never has.

Lifelike environemnts are important to human beings in some magical way.

The experience of consuming, creating and exploring information in the virtual world is implicitly and inherently social.

You are always there with other people. Human beings are social creatures and enjoy more the consumption of information in the presence of others.

It is essential to us in some fundamental way. You can’t escape it.

When you are on Amazon.com and you are looking for digital cameras or whatever, you are on the site page in real time with five thousand other people.

But you cannot just turn to the person next to you who may be viewing the page and say “what do you think.”
It is likely that virtual worlds will become a common way to consume information.

Second life has grown from the original 16 simulators to over 20,000 servers.

The people in second life are very different than the people you meet offline. A large percentage of people (well over 50,000 people) are making real-world cash in Second Life.
